After the backup process is finished, the latest backup sections should be updated to show your most recent backup. For Manually Backup and Restore, choose Backup Now. Go to the Summary tab You should see a section called Backups on the right hand side.In iTunes, select your iOS device by clicking the corresponding icon in the upper left corner of the window. Then connect your iOS device to your computer. If you haven’t already, make a habit of creating regular backups. Making an iOS backup will save most of the data stored on your device, including iMessages, SMS messages, and MMS messages. Step 1A (PC or Mac OS Mojave and earlier versions): If you really prefer not to use iTunes, you can skip the next two steps and go directly to the “Use iExplorer only” section. You can download the latest version here. While you can make and save backups using iCloud, it will be easier to access your texts (and other data) in the future using iTunes. If you are running a PC or Mac with OS Mojave or earlier, you can use iTunes to create a backup of your iPhone, which will capture all your text messages at the time of backup. You can save your text messages to your backup account to access them forever. The steps are slightly different if you have an Android phone. Rather than saving a special text message as a screenshot, there are more direct ways to save it to your computer or via iExplorer if you have an Apple phone.
